Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson are in negotiations to headline the romantic comedy movie Meet Cute directed by Alex Lehmann. Deadline Hollywood reports that the deal has not yet closed, and describes the project:

wildly inventive deconstruction of the romantic comedy built around the question: What would you do if you could travel to your loved ones’ past, heal their traumas, fix their problems, and change them into the perfect partner?

Cuoco will play Sheila, while Davidson will portray Gary in the pic. Noga Pnueli penned the script. Akiva Goldsman, Gregory Lessans, and Rachel Reznick of Weed Road Pictures will produce with Santosh Govindaraju and Dan Reardon of Convergent Media.

Starring on “The Big Bang Theory” made Cuoco one of the most successful actors in Hollywood — her 12-season run made her one of the highest-paid actors in the history of TV, with the cast each bringing in $1 million an episode from seasons eight through 12 — but it also confined her to a very specific type of sitcom audience. She had no idea where she would go next after “Big Bang,” but something told her that if she wanted to pivot, she would have to go out and create it for herself.

Which is exactly what she did with a little show called “The Flight Attendant,” which she discovered browsing the internet one late night and which turned into a hit HBO Max series she starred in, executive produced, and for which she was subsequently nominated for two Golden Globes. Emmys, it’s your move.

“I think people were interested in the fact that I built this from the ground-up, that this was my project from the beginning,” Cuoco says of being seen in a new light since the show came out. “I think that got a lot of people’s attention and they respected that. They accepted the tone, they accepted this new path for me. But I do believe that them hearing my story over the last few years of how I got the book and how I got this thing going, I felt like I earned a lot of, I don’t know, there was this mutual respect between me and other actors and my fans. It was just, it was incredibly nice and I felt like I had this warm welcome into a whole new career that I didn’t even know was there.”

When “The Big Bang Theory” ended in 2019, Cuoco was advised to take the summer off and relax a bit, which was the one thing she knew she did not want to do.

Kaley Cuoco has been on TV for most of her life, including guest spots in the 1990s on such shows as “My So-Called Life,” “Northern Exposure” and “Ellen” (where she played a young version of star Ellen DeGeneres). Her breakthrough was playing Bridget Hennessy, the daughter of TV icons John Ritter and Katey Sagal’s characters, on the ABC series “8 Simple Rules … for Dating My Teenage Daughter” — but then came Cuoco’s Big Bang.

After 12 years of playing Penny on “The Big Bang Theory,” which became TV’s most-watched sitcom and ultimately earned her $1 million per episode, Cuoco was in the same space a lot of TV stars are in after the end of their long-running shows. Do you take a break? Tackle movies? Attempt to top that once-in-a-lifetime TV mountaintop?

The Flight Attendant star and executive producer Kaley Cuoco has closed an expansive new overall deal with Warner Bros. TV Group for her production company Yes, Norman, extending a 15-year relationship with the studio.

Under the rich new three-year pact, Cuoco and her Yes, Norman Productions executive Suzanne McCormack will continue to develop new original programming for all platforms: streaming services (including WarnerMedia’s HBO Max), cable and the broadcast networks.

Cuoco, who first starred in a 2006 comedy pilot for WBTV before being cast in the studio’s megahit CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory a year later, launched Yes, Norman in 2017 with a pod deal at WBTV while still starring on Big Bang. Her first act as a producer was to option a then-yet-to-be-published novel, The Flight Attendant, whose synopsis inspired her move behind the camera.

“Warner Bros. has been my home away from home for as long as I can remember which makes this partnership so special on every level,” Cuoco said. “I look forward to much continued success with my extended family!!!!!”
