Kaley Cuoco has revealed why she wasn’t initially on board with a second season of her hit show The Flight Attendant.
The Big Bang Theory star, who also serves as executive producer on the HBO Max show, is reprising the role of flight attendant Cassie Bowden in season two.
Following the bumpy flight that was the first chapter, fans will get to see protagonist Cassie deal with sobriety, her new CIA gig and… multiple versions of herself after she relocates to Los Angeles.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media, Cuoco explained why she was a bit on the fence about returning for a second season, after the first had opened to rave reviews.
“I could not believe the love that I was receiving, that the show was receiving, and my cast – which made it even scarier to do a season 2,” the actress said.
“So I was terrified. And now I’m terrified again for season 2 to come out,” she continued, adding: “I’ll just keep being terrified, and eventually one day I won’t be.”
It’s great Cuoco overcame her doubts about a new chapter as, judging from the trailer, Cassie’s LA adventures look even more intriguing and action-packed than the ones she had in the first installment. Which means more behind-the-scenes work to share with fans of the show, as the actress confirmed.
“This season is 100 times bigger than what we did in season one. It’s funny, we did a lot of behind the scenes this year, and so, each episode, you’re going to get 10-minute videos when it’s done about behind-the-scenes and interviews of how we did stuff,” the actress said.
“I’ve been watching them, because I’ve been approving these videos, and it made me excited to show the world, because it shows all the hard work and the stuff we did with the multiple Cassies, and the stages, and the gorgeous production design.
“There were a lot of hands in this season. So I’m proud of those people, and a little less scared. No, I’m terrified. What am I saying?”

Bazinga! CBS’ The Big Bang Theory is getting the oral history treatment in a forthcoming book from Glamour senior editor Jessica Radloff.
The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, set for publication Oct. 11, 2022, features interviews with 40 people including co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, longtime showrunner Steve Molaro and stars Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Simon Helberg (Howard), Kunal Nayyar (Raj), Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) and Mayim Bialik (Amy).
“Ever since The Big Bang Theory signed off in May 2019, fans have been asking for a reunion, and come October, they will have it, in the form of The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series,” Radloff said. “Having covered the series for most of its 12-year run, I thought I knew everything — and I mean everything — about it. Turns out, after doing over 116 hours of brand-new interviews for this book I learned my knowledge only scratched the surface, and I promise I’m not over-selling that. Many of the reveals were new and shocking to the actors as well, and executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro, Steve Holland and Bill Prady. Now that we are just months away from publication, I presume the level of excitement I have about finally sharing this with the fans is equal to what Sheldon and Amy felt when they won the Nobel.”
Executives from producers Warner Bros. TV and CBS, plus writers and crewmembers, are also featured in the book from Grand Central Publishing. Not to be left out, the original Penny — Amanda Walsh — was also interviewed for the oral history. Cuoco replaced Walsh after CBS passed on the original pilot and instead redeveloped the comedy.
Big Bang Theory signed off after a 12-season run in 2019 and ranks as TV’s longest-running multicamera comedy in history. The show about a group of lovable nerds ended its run on top, ranking as TV’s highest-rated comedy. Four-time Emmy winner Parsons, who currently exec produces and narrates prequel Young Sheldon, opted to walk away from the series despite the willingness of the rest of the cast and creatives — as well as CBS and Warners — to do another season.
Lorre wrote the foreword for the book following hours of interviews with Radloff, who penned more than 150 stories about Big Bang for Glamour and appeared in the show’s series finale. The book features more than 120 hours of interviews covering new details about iconic episodes including the famed Leonard Nimoy napkin installment, “The Opening Night Excitation” (in which Sheldon and Amy consummate their relationship) and a deep dive into both pilots. The cast also gets personal about their lives behind the scenes, ranging from divorce and anxiety and how that impacted the show (which kept everything secret).
