Great news! Meet Cute, the time-travel-inspired romantic comedy starring Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson, will premiere exclusively on Peacock on September 21, 2022!

Pete Davidson and Kaley Cuoco’s upcoming romantic comedy film will premiere exclusively on Peacock Sept. 21, the streamer announced Tuesday.

Titled “Meet Cute,” after the well know rom-com trope, the film focuses on Sheila (Cuoco), a woman who uses a time machine to repeat a first meeting between her and Gary (Davidson) in order to engineer a love at first sight date. But when Gary can’t measure up to Sheila’s vision of perfection in the days following their magical night, she heads further back in time to shape him into her dream man.

“Meet Cute” is directed by Alex Lehmann, who previously helmed the films “Acidman,” “Paddleton” and “Blue Jay.” Weed Road Pictures produces the film, with Akiva Goldsman, Rachel Reznick Wizenberg, Gregory Lessans, Santosh Govindaraju and Dan Reardon serving as producers. Noga Pnueli wrote the script and executive produces with Davidson, Cuoco, Blair Ward, Art Robinson, Anders Erdén, Sara Shaak, Jonathan Taylor, Simon Fawcett, Martin Sprock, Brian O’Shea, Nat McCormick, Caddy Vanasirikul, Galen Smith, Marc Danon, Julie Kroll, Monte Lipman, Dana Sano, David Gendron and Ali Jazayeri.

“If I had a time machine right now I’d be torn. Do I skip ahead to our release date or do I go back and relive the joy it was making this film? Lucky for me it’s a decision I don’t get to make,” Lehmann said in a statement. “I’m excited for audiences to get swept away on this wild romantic ride exclusively on Peacock.”

Kaley Cuoco, a two-time Emmy nominee for The Flight Attendant, has been tapped for a lead in Peacock’s dark comedic thriller Based On a True Story, from Emmy-nominated The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg, Ozark star/executive producer Jason Bateman and his Aggregate Films and UCP.

I hear Cuoco has a two-season deal for Based On a True Story. There has been no Season 3 pickup for The Flight Attendant yet as creator Steve Yockey is bouncing around potential ideas but it appears likely; Cuoco’s Based On a True Story deal allows her to return to the HBO Max hit if the right premise comes along.

Written by Rosenberg Inspired by a bizarre true event, Based On a True Story is about a realtor, a plumber and a former tennis star whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime, murder and the slow close toilet seat.

Cuoco will play a married woman named Ava Bartlett. All other details are being kept under wraps; I hear Ava is the realtor character.

Rosenberg, who will serve as showrunner, executive produces alongside Bateman and Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films. Roxie Rodriguez serves as co-executive producer for Aggregate Films. The series is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

The Big Bang Theory alumna Cuoco recently received a second consecutive Emmy nomination for her performance in The Flight Attendant in the category Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She has an overall deal with Warner Bros. TV, which is exclusive for producing and non-exclusive for acting. Under that pact, she has a Doris Day limited series in development, which she is executive producing and attached to play the Hollywood legend in.

Cuoco is currently shooting action-thriller feature Role Play for director Thomas Vincent, in which sh stars opposite David Oyelowo. She is repped by SDB Partners, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Hansen Jacobson Teller.

Season two of HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant is grander, deeper and more real, stars Kaley Cuoco and Zosia Mamet tell THR, sitting side by side on a couch in Cuoco’s home, where they’ve been living together during production of the second season. The two real-life friends play best friends on the show, which in its second go-round follows flight attendant Cassie Bowden as she becomes an asset for the CIA but soon realizes that a woman pretending to be her is causing havoc around the globe.

Cuoco and Mamet talk to THR about how the show blended with real lives (including Cuoco filing for divorce from equestrian Karl Cook around the same time season two was starting to film), their acting processes and how it deepened their friendship.
